I have many fond memories from growing up in Northern Nevada, the smell of sagebrush after it rains is one of my favorite things on the planet, and something I miss dearly.
As kids we joked about the millions we'd make if we could just take that scent and put it into a candle. There was a few flaws in our business plan, but the main one wasn't even apparent at the time. That candle wouldn't hit everyone with the same nostalgic gut punch.
I crave that gut punch, and chase it through photography. Grain, soft light, and a focus the small details. Grounded yet vaguely reminiscent.
